The high-ceilings, Victorian features and lovely views of Endcliffw Park made a perfect new home for Simon Pearce, his wife Laura and their two young children. Well, almost.
The Kitchen and dining rooms were so gloomy that Simon had the wall between them demolished, and called in Sheffield Kitchen Outlet (SKO) to create a spacious flow-through area. He recalls: "When we had parties people would be squashed at one end of the kitchen - unable to get out without jostling past everyone. And we hardly ever used the dining room because it was so dark and dreary. Very Victorian!"
Then a friend of the family had the kitchen of her house in Oughtibridge modernised by Sheffield Kitchen Outlet, and she highly recommended their services.
SKO have established a fine reputation as manufacturers of quality kitchen furniture that is made to order (units arrive fully assembled). The walls of the company's showroom are full of thank-you letters from customers who have been delighted by SKO's prompt, reliable service, and value for money units and appliances.
After builders had removed the wall, SKO drew up plans to make the new kitchen the centrepiece of what was now a substanstial space, and ensured that in future guests at the Pearces' parties would be able to move around with ease.
Says Simon: "Ben Gregory, SKO's designe, was briliant. He made the kitchen flow between the two rooms seamlessly."
The new kitchen's features include cupboards above the fridge, corner storage units, heat and stain-resistant worktops, and a beautiful curving central island that houses an induction hob so Laura can cook and talk to everyone at the same time.
"SKO were a pleasure to work with," says Simon. "They didn't give us any sales pressure, and their design was exactly right. We are very happy with the outcome."
