The country-cottage-style kitchen you see on these pages was created for Liz and David Dugdale by SKO (Sheffield Kitchen Outlet). The couple live in a four-bedroomed bungalow located within the rural ssetting of Hollow Meadows.
The property has been in Liz's family since the 1970's, when her parents bought it from the farmer next door. She and David moved in last July, and began an extesive programme of renovation - adding an extra bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a conservatory, a utility room, cavity wall insulation, and a new roof.
While the work was under way, Liz and David lived temporarily with a friend - who had read about Sheffield Kitchen Outlet in Grapevine. She suggested that the company would be a good one for the Dugdales to visit when they got around to choosing anew kitchen for their bungalow.
Says Liz; "We were very impressed with the courteous and helpful manner of everyone at Sheffield Kitchen Outlet. The designer, Ben Gregory listened to what we wanted, and madelots of helpful suggestions. Most importantly, their units were good quality, and reasonably priced.
She and David opted for floor-to-ceiling Woodman oak units, and gold-flecked granite work surfaces that continue a little way up the wall to form an easy-to-clean splashback. Granite was also fitted on the kitchen windowsill.
All the appliances were provided by Sheffield Kitchen Outlet, and are top-quality Neff ones, including an induction hob and larder-style refrigerator. Each appliance fits seamlessly with the kitchen units, including the oven that Liz requested be located higher than is usual so she doesn't have to bend over too much.
Ben Gregory included clever design features include a floor-to-ceiling pull-out food storage rack, and pull-out corner storage and maximises space beneath work surfaces.
"We are thrilled to bits with our new kitchen," says Liz, "and can't praise enough the professionalism of the designers and fitters."
